Welcome to OutdoorsWest. And welcome to exploring the outdoors in Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
This section of the website, Get Started, is where you can find what you need to know to get out and about in the outdoors. Whether this is your first time in the area, or if you live or work here and want to explore a bit more, browse through the links on the left to find what you need to know. Then you can go on to explore the rest of the website. And if there's anything more - a suggestion for something extra on this website - let us know using the Contact Us page.
You can find out why this website is here under 'About us', learn a little about public rights of way and what paths we look after, and tell you what you can find on this website.
You don't have to be an expert map reader to use all our prepared route guides, but if you want to go out and explore independently, a good map helps you find your way. So, if you want to understand the Ordnance Survey maps that we use, and that you can buy to take with you - we'll show you where to learn.
We can also point you in the right direction for weather, tide times and other useful information. We're not going to give you fashion tips, or picnic menus, but we've got some practical suggestions on what to wear and take with you whilst you get out and about.
For most of the information you find under 'Get Started' there's a lot more detail elsewhere on the site - use the menu buttons along the top of every page. And we've got powerful interactive mapping where always be adding more information - including many more prepared routes in a searchable routes database.
