Bristol, with its historic port and over 450 parks and green spaces is about 12 miles from Bath - a World Heritage City nestled within seven hills, of Roman Baths, Georgian architecture and hot springs. Then there's small towns such as Chipping Sodbury, Yate, Keynsham, Norton-Radstock and Thornbury.
The ground rises from levels of the Severn Estuary, internationally important for birdlife, to the high ground of the Cotswolds on the east and the Mendip Hills on the south - both classified as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Between these are pretty villages and rolling countryside with hedgerows, country lanes and woodlands, all ready to explore.
