Health charity 'Mind' recommends a walk in the countryside

Mental health charity 'Mind' shows how getting out and about in nature is good for your mental wellbeing.
They say that "outdoor activities such as gardening, walking and cycling are not only good for your physical health, but can improve your mental health too. Research shows that those who are more active have a greater sense of wellbeing and have lower rates of depression and anxiety. Even simple activities like taking a stroll in the park, or doing some gentle outdoor exercise can have big benefits for our mental wellbeing."
Mind's 'Ecominds' programme has funded projects through the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces Programme, including a few in OutdoorsWest's area.
For more information about health, some ideas of healthy activities and to read a blog post called 'Feeling Better Outside' look on the Ecominds website. In her blog post, Laura, who went on a country walk in the aptly named 'Happy Valley', describes how much getting out into the fresh air helped her feel better.
