The Joint Local Access Forum (JLAF, pronounce it 'JAY-Laff') is the group who advise councils and others on Outdoors Access in the OutdoorsWest area. They've got a meeting on Friday the 5th July in Keynsham at 2pm, where the major item on the agenda is 'Health'.
Each Council is now responsible for Public Health, and as they're writing their strategies and setting up 'Health and Wellbeing Boards' one of the areas they'll want to address is how to get more people active and in the outdoors in order to get (and stay) healthy.
If you're interested in this subject, this meeting is held in public and all are welcome. There's more details on the JLAF's website, including the papers for the meeting (which include the JLAF responses to those Health and Wellbeing Strategies).
And if you want more information about health and getting out, we've got some evidence on why it's a good idea, and, information on Health Walks, if you want to join a group for one-off or regular walks, with fresh air and maybe some new friends!
