Official cycle hire scheme now in Bath

Over fifty bikes for hire will be available for residents and visitors to Bath at four locations in the city as part of the European CIVITAS Renaissance project overseen by Bath & North East Somerset Council.
The ten month trial will see four cycle stations operating at Orange Grove, Railway Place (Bath Spa Station), Green Park Station, and Sydney Place (Holburne Museum).
The trial is being run by Italian company Bicincitta, which operates similar hire schemes in other cities across Europe, including Rome and Turin. The bike system requires a smart card to operate. These can be bought from the Tourism Plus office in Bath, or from the Bike in Bath website. This card is used to release the bikes from the cycle stands. Bikes can be returned to any of the four stands.
The cycle trial funded by the European Commission and the Council’s private partners, like Bicincitta.
Some of the other projects part of CIVITAS are the freight consolidation depot, expansion of the City Car Club, and improvements to the public realm of St. James Rampire.
